Who am I?

Hi! My name is Hollie Galloway and I want to tell you a little bit about myself.  I am a retired RN, Massage and Reflexology therapist, and have also been interested in health  and nutrition my entire life.  

I live in the beautiful state of Rhode Island.  Seven years ago my husband and I got turned on to the ketogenic diet and it changed our lives!  So I decided to become a keto health coach. 

I am certified by Dr. Eric Berg, an internationally recognized teacher of the keto diet.  He has produced over 2,000 videos and continues to be for me a champion of this lifestyle.  I am also certified in a plant-focused ketogenic therapy for people with chronic kidney disease, specifically PKD or poly cystic kidney disease.

I do believe that the low carb lifestyle is the best approach to staying healthy for many reasons which I will explain later.  Research is showing us now just how important it is to stop eating sugar and refined starches.  Many of our chronic diseases today are the result of a poor diet high in these things.


What is keto?

The ketogenic diet is a very low carbohydrate, high fat, and moderate protein diet.

It involves drastically reducing carbohydrate intake and replacing it with fat.  The reduction in carbohydrates puts your body into a metabolic state called ketosis.

When this happens, your body becomes incredibly efficient at burning fat for energy.  It also turns fat into ketones in the liver, which can supply energy for the brain.

Ketogenic diets can cause significant reduction in blood sugar and insulin levels.  This, along with the increased ketones, has significant health benefits.

Why do you need a coach?

Your body goes through big changes when you shift from burning glucose to burning fat.  Dr Eric Berg says "we have to make new machinery".  It can take a few days to a few weeks depending upon your current state of health.
